Special stitches and helpful resources

  • I use Join As You Go method for joining each motif together. I will update the tutorial with photos about how to join motif using Join As You Go method here in the future. Click here to go the post. (Updated)
  • For the best yarns, check out the yarn collections on Knit Picks, Craftsy and Annie’s.
  • To finish shawl pattern with fringe. How to make a fringe by Just be happy!

First of all, keep in your mind…
Note:

  • All half motifs are placed on top of the shawl
  • Each motif (not half motif) has 4 pointers with two ch-6 spaces and one ch-9 space in the middle of that two ch-6 spaces. (see the graph below)
  • Start to join each working motif with first ch-9 space in round 2. After joining each corner of the motif using As You Go method, you can crochet rest of the motif pattern in round 2 and fasten off.  (normally you will have to join 3 corners of the motif but, there has one motif (the center one in each round) that have to join 2 corners only)
  • All motifs will join ch-6 space to ch-6 space, ch-9 space to ch-9 space like this.
  • We are going to make a triangle shawl so the motifs will join together triangle shape too. First round starts with 3 motifs (two half motifs and one full motif) and makes a triangle shape. Second round goes with another color and it’s also joining like a triangle shape.
  • I will add Print Friendly Button at the bottom of the each part.

Abbreviations for this part

  • ch = chain
  • sl st = slip stitch
  • dc = double crochet
  • ch-() sp = chain – (number of chain counts) space
  • Color 1 = White
  • Color 2 = beige
  • Color 3 = Pink

Here is the full instruction for the individual motif. The pattern with joining motif has explained in every time in Shawl pattern so you no need to worry about this pattern instruction. We only use round 1 and bolted part of the below pattern (full and half motif) instruction when we crocheting shawl pattern.
