Skill Level: Beginner

Finished sizes:

(Teen)

• Hat height = 8.5″
• Hat circumference = 19″

(adult)  

• Hat height = 9″
• Hat circumference = 21″

Materials

4-Medium weight / Worsted / 100% Cotton / 75 total yards

(I used)

• Rico Creative Cotton Aran  (Approx: 125 yards)
• 5 mm (U.S H/8)crochet hook

Gauge: 16 hdc x 9 rows = 4″ with 5 mm crochet hook.

Abbreviations

• ch = chain
• hdc = half double crochet
• dc = double crochet
• sc = single crochet
• st = stitch
• sk = skip
• sl st = slip stitch
• beg = beginning
• * to ; = repeat * to the instructions.

Notes: beg ch does not count as a st.

Easy Peasy Slouch Beanie

For both sizes

Make a magic ring.

Round 1: 12 hdc into the magic ring, sl st to the first hdc. (12 hdc)

Round 2: ch 1, 2 hdc in first st and each st around, sl st to first hdc. (24 hdc).

Round 3: ch 1, 2 hdc in the first st, *1 hdc in next st, 2 hdc in next st; repeat * to around, sl st to first hdc. (36 hdc)

Round 4: ch 2, 2 dc in first st, *ch 1, sk next st, 2 dc in next st; repeat * to around, last ch 1 sl st to first dc. (36 dc)

Round 5: sl st to next dc, ch 2, 3 dc in same st, *ch 2, sk next ch 1 and 1 dc, 3 dc in next dc; repeat * to around, last ch 2 sl st to first dc. (54 dc)

Round 6: sl st until 3rd dc, ch 2, 3 dc in same st, *ch 2, sk next ch 2 and 2 dc, 3 dc in next dc; repeat * to around, last ch 2 sl st to first dc. (54 dc)

Teen

Round 7 to 13: repeat round 6 continuously.

Round 14: ch 1, sc in first dc and each of next 2 dc, *1 sc in next ch-2 space, sc in each of next 3 dc; repeat * to around, sl st to first sc. (72 sc)

Round 15: ch 1, sc in first st and each st around, sl st to first sc. (72 sts)

Round 16 to 18: repeat round 15. Fasten off and weave the ends.

Adult

Round 7 to 14: repeat round 6 continuously.

Round 15: ch 1, sc in first dc and each of next 2 dc, *2 sc in next ch-2 space, sc in each of next 3 dc; repeat * to around, sl st to first sc. (90 sc)

Round 16: ch 1, sc in first st and each st around, sl st to first sc. (90 sts)

Round 17 to 20: repeat round 16. Fasten off and weave the ends.
