Crochet Stars Christmas Ornament Pattern by Crochet For You.

This CAL has already ended, but you can start it at any time you like.

The time is ticking so fast we are on the last Monday of November and this is the 4th pattern of #XmasOrnamentMiniCAL. In this pattern, we are going to use again simple embroidery stitches to add a more decorative look to Christmas Crochet Star. In the same way, we did on Crochet Baubles Pattern 😀 So let’s start.

Materials

  • Sport or DK weight yarn in Red and White colors (Approx: 30 yards)
  • G-6,4mm crochet hook
  • Fiberfill
  • Tapestry needle

Abbreviations/special stitches

  • ch = chain
  • sc = single crochet
  • st = stitch
  • sl st = slip stitch
  • beg = beginning
  • (C1) = color 1
  • (C2) = color 2

Special stitches

  • sc2tog = Insert hook in first st and draw up a loop. Insert hook in next st and draw up a loop. Yarn over, pull back through all 3 loops on hook at once.

Notes

  • Beg ch does not count as st.
  • Less than 30 yards required for this pattern.
  • The center of the star crocheted in rounds.
  • Each point of the star crocheted in rows and separately.

Crochet Christmas Star

Christmas Ornament Mini CAL – Christmas Crochet Star

(Make 2)

With (C1), Make a magic ring.

Round 1: ch 1, 5 sc into the ring, sl st to the first st. (5 sts)

Round 2: ch 1, 2 sc in each st across, sl st to the first st. (10 sts)

Round 3: ch 1, 2 sc in first st, *1 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st; repeat * to around, sl st to the first st. (15 sts)

Round 4: ch 1, 2 sc in first st, *sc in each of next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st; repeat * to around, sl st to the first st. (20 sts)

Round 5: ch 1, 2 sc in first st, *sc in each of next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st; repeat * to around, sl st the to first st. (25 sts)

Round 6: ch 1, 2 sc in first st, *sc in each of next 4 sts, 2 sc in next st; repeat * to around, sl st to the first st. (30 sts) Do not fasten off. You can start the first point of the star right now.

Add 5 stitch markers at 1, 7, 13, 19, 25, stitches in round 6.

5 points (Each point of the star crocheted in rows and separately)

You can start the first point of the star without fastening off after finishing round 6 and fasten off when finish all the 6 rows. Join the yarn and start the rest of the points at the marked stitch with ch 1 and do not forget to turn the work when each row finish. After finishing each point you will need to fasten off.

Points of the star

Row 1: ch 1, sc in first (marked) st and each of next 5 sts, turn. (6 sts)

Row 2: ch 1, sc2tog (see special stitches), sc in each of next 2 sts, sc2tog, turn. (4 sts)

Row 3: ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. (4 sts)

Row 4: ch 1, [sc2tog] 2 times, turn. (2 sts)

Row 5: ch 1, sc in each of next 2 sts, turn. (2 sts)

Row 6: ch 1, sc2tog. Fasten off.

Crochet sc around the edge

With (C1) crochet sc around the edge. Crochet 3 sc in each top of the point to get smooth edging. Fasten off and weave the ends.

Embroidery snowflake

Sew Embroidery Snowflake on each crocheted star. Start from the middle, sew straight 5 lines to make a center of the snowflake. Sew lazy daisy stitch on the top of each straight lines. And sew 2 short lines on two sides of lazy daisy stitch. Make another 5 short lines between long lines. And 2 short lines on two sides of the center of the long lines.

Joining two pieces together

Holding two pieces together,  with (C1) begin with 3 sc at any of 2nd st of 3 sc. crochet sc around the edge to joining two pieces. Crochet 3 sc in the second st of each 3 sts (corner st) to get smooth edging. Add fiberfill while joining. Don’t forget to fill lightly. Sl st to the first st.

After joining two pieces together, crochet ch 30 or 40 and sl st to the first st (made a loop). Fasten off and weave the ends.

Edging

With (C2), crochet slip stitch (sl st) around the previous round. Fasten off and weave the end.

How to crochet slip stitch around the edge? Insert the hook in a st of the previous row at the top point of the star. yarn over, pull up a loop, *insert the hook in next st, yarn over, pull up a loop through st and the loop on the hook; repeat * to around the edge, Fasten off and weave the ends.
