This Bobbles & Stripes Christmas Tree

  • fast and easy to crochet.

Skill level: Intermediate

  • Finished size: Large = 7.5” high / Small = 5” high

Materials: #4-Medium / Worsted yarn (Approx: 250 yards)

  • (C1) Gray color yarn (Approx: 125 yards)
  • (C2) Baige color yarn (Approx: 125 yards)
  • I-8 / 5mm crochet hook
  • fiberfill
  • Tapestry needle for weaving ends.

Gauge is not very important for this project

  • Abbreviations/special stitches
  • ch = chain
  • sl st = slip stitch
  • sc = single crochet
  • hdc = half double crochet
  • st = stitch
  • yo = yarn over
  • beg = beginning
  • (C1) = color 1 (brown)
  • (C2) = color 2 (white)
  • *to; = repeat * to the instructions.
  • Special stitches
  • 5-dc bobble st = [yo, insert the hook in indicated st, yo, pull back through st, yo, pull back through two loops on the hook] 5 times, yarn over, pull back through all the 6 loops on the hook.

Crochet Bobbles & Stripes Christmas Tree Pattern

(Large = 7.5” high)
With (C1), make an adjustable/magic ring. 
Round 1: (C1) ch 1, 8 hdc into the ring, sl st to the first st. (8 hdc) 

Round 2: (C1) ch 1,  hdc in each st around, sl st to the first st. (8 hdc) 

Round 3: (C1) repeat round 2.

Round 4: with (C1) ch 1, 2 hdc in first st, *hdc in next st, 2 hdc in next st; repeat *to around, sl st to the first st. (12 hdc) 

Round 5: with (C2), ch 1, hdc in each st around, sl st to the first st. (12 hdc) 

Round 6: (C2) ch 1, 2 hdc in first st, *hdc in each of next 2 st, 2 hdc in next st; repeat *to around, sl st to the first st. (16 hdc) 

Round 7: with (C1), ch 1, hdc in each st around, sl st to the first st. (16 hdc)
 
Round 8: with (C1) ch 1, hdc in first st and next 2 st, *with (C2) 5-dc Bobble in next st, with (C1) hdc in each of next 3 st; repeat *to around, sl st to the first st. (12 hdc/4 Bobble) 

Round 9: with (C1) ch 1, 2 hdc in first st, *hdc in each of next 3 st, 2 hdc in next st; repeat * to around, sl st to the first st. (20 hdc) 

Round 10: with (C2), ch 1, hdc in each st around, sl st to the first st. (20 hdc)
 
Round 11: (C2) ch 1, 2 hdc in first st, *hdc in each of next 4 st, 2 hdc in next st; repeat * to around, sl st to the first st. (24 hdc) 

Round 12: with (C1), ch 1, hdc in each st around, sl st to the first st. (24 hdc)
 
Round 13: with (C1) ch 1, hdc in first st and next 2 st, *with (C2) 5-dc Bobble in next st, with (C1) hdc in each of next 3 st; repeat *to around, sl st to the first st. (18 hdc/6 Bobble)

Round 14: with (C1) ch 1, 2 hdc in first st, *hdc in each of next 5 st, 2 hdc in next st; repeat * to around, sl st to the first st. (28 hdc) 

Round 15: with (C2), ch 1, hdc in each st around, sl st to the first st. (28 hdc)
 
Round 16: (C2) ch 1, 2 hdc in first st, *hdc in each of next 6 st, 2 hdc in next st; repeat * to around, sl st to the first st. (32 hdc) 

Round 17: with (C1), ch 1, hdc in each st around, sl st to the first st. (32 hdc) 

Round 18: with (C1) ch 1, hdc in first st and next 2 st, *with (C2) 5-dc Bobble in next st, with (C1) hdc in each of next 3 st; repeat *to around, sl st to the first st. (24 hdc/8 Bobble)

Round 19: with (C1) ch1, sc in first st and each st around, sl st to the first st. (32 sc) Cut the yarn leaving about 20″ long yarn tail for sewing.

Circle for the base of the tree

Make an adjustable/magic ring with (C1).
Round 1: ch 1, 8 hdc into the ring, sl st to the first hdc. (8 sts)

Round 2: ch 1, 2 hdc in first st and each of next st around, sl st to the first hdc. (16 sts)

Round 3: ch 1, 2 hdc in first st, *hdc in next st, 2 hdc in next st; repeat to around, sl st to the first hdc. (24 sts)

Round 4: with (C2) ch 1, 2 hdc in first st, *hdc in next 2 sts, 2 hdc in next st; repeat * to around, sl st to the first hdc. (32 sts) Fasten off and weave the ends. Cut the yarn and fasten off.


(Small = / Small = 5” high)
With (C1), make an adjustable/magic ring. 
Round 1:(C1) ch 1, 8 hdc into the ring, sl st to the first st. (8 hdc) 

Round 2: (C1) ch 1,  hdc in each st around, sl st to the first st. (8 hdc) 

Round 3: (C1) repeat round 2.

Round 4: with (C1) ch 1, 2 hdc in first st, *hdc in next st, 2 hdc in next st; repeat *to around, sl st to the first st. (12 hdc) 

Round 5: with (C2), ch 1, hdc in each st around, sl st to the first st. (12 hdc) 

Round 6: (C2) ch 1, 2 hdc in first st, *hdc in each of next 2 st, 2 hdc in next st; repeat *to around, sl st to the first st. (16 hdc) 

Round 7: with (C1), ch 1, hdc in each st around, sl st to the first st. (16 hdc)

Round 8: with (C1) ch 1, hdc in first st and next 2 st, *with (C2) 5-dc Bobble in next st, with (C1) hdc in each of next 3 st; repeat *to around, sl st to the first st. (12 hdc/4 Bobble) 

Round 9: with (C1) ch 1, 2 hdc in first st, *hdc in each of next 3 st, 2 hdc in next st; repeat * to around, sl st to the first st. (20 hdc) 

Round 10: with (C2), ch 1, hdc in each st around, sl st to the first st. (20 hdc)

Round 11: (C2) ch 1, 2 hdc in first st, *hdc in each of next 4 st, 2 hdc in next st; repeat * to around, sl st to the first st. (24 hdc) 

Round 12: with (C1), ch 1, hdc in each st around, sl st to the first st. (24 hdc)

Round 13: with (C1) ch 1, hdc in first st and next 2 st, *with (C2) 5-dc Bobble in next st, with (C1) hdc in each of next 3 st; repeat *to around, sl st to the first st. (18 hdc/6 Bobble)

Round 14: with (C1), ch 1, sc in each st around, sl st to the first st. (24 sc) Cut the yarn leaving about 20″ long yarn tail for sewing.

Circle for the base of the tree

Make an adjustable/magic ring with (C1).
Round 1: ch 1, 8 hdc into the ring, sl st to the first hdc. (8 sts)

Round 2: ch 1, 2 hdc in first st and each of next st around, sl st to the first hdc. (16 sts)

Assembly
After stuffing fiberfill. Insert the tapestry needle through the yarn tail and place the circle on the bottom of the tree to fit the base of the tree and begin to sew through loops on each piece. See the video tutorial
