Crochet Hedgehog Pillow Free Pattern

Crochet this cuddly plush pillow using blanket yarns. This cozy feeling animal pillow inspired by everyone’s favorite Hedgehog Amigurumi. The pattern made by joining two crocheted pieces together.
Skill Level Intermediate
Finished size: about 13.5″ width and 18.5 height.
Materials
- Blanket yarns – (Affiliate link) (approx: 500 yards total). Brown color 300 yds, Cream color 200 yds (Scroll down & read all about the yarn suggestions)
- US L-11, 8mm crochet hook
- Safety eyes (15 mm)
- Fiberfil
- Stitch markers and pins
- Tapestry needle for weaving ends.
Gauge is not very important for this project
Abbreviations (US Term)
- ch = chain
- sl st = slip stitch
- sc = single crochet
- hdc = half double crochet
- st = stitch
- yo = yarn over
- beg = beginning
- *to; = repeat * to the instructions.
- [ ] = work instructions within brackets as many times as directed
Special stitches
- 4-dc popcorn st = crochet 4 dc in indicated st, drop the loop from the hook, insert the hook from front to back under the top 2 loops of the first double crochet of 4 dc, grab the dropped loop with the hook and pull back through the stitch, ch 1 to close the stitch.
- sc2tog = [Insert hook in next st and draw up a loop] 2 times, yarn over, pull back through all 3 loops on hook at once.
- sc3tog = [Insert the hook in next st, yarn over, pull up a loop] 3 times, yarn over and pull through all the 4 loops on the hook.
Notes
- The pattern made by joining two crocheted pieces together.
- Beg ch does not count as st.
- Gauge is not very important for this pattern.
Crochet Hedgehog Pillow Pattern
- The pattern made by joining two crocheted pieces together.
- Each pieces has body and face parts.
- Note that the right side of the body part considered as the right side of the each piece.
(Make 2 pieces)
Body part (the round piece)
With brown color, make an adjustable/magic ring.
Round 1: (RS) ch 1, 10 hdc into ring, sl st to the first st. (10 sts)
Round 2: ch 1, 2 hdc in each st around, join with sl st in first st. (20 sts)
Round 3: ch 1, 2 hdc in first st, *1 hdc in next st, 2 hdc in next st; repeat * from around, join with sl st in first st. (30 sts)
Round 4: ch 1, 2 hdc in first st, *hdc in each of next 2 st, 2 hdc in next st; repeat * from around, join with sl st in first st. (40 sts)
Round 5: ch 1, 2 hdc in first st, *hdc in each next 3 st, 2 hdc in next st; repeat * from around, join with sl st in first st. (50 sts)
Round 6: ch 1, 2 hdc in first st, *hdc in each next 4 st, 2 hdc in next st; repeat * from around, join with sl st in first st. (60 sts)
Round 7: ch 1, 2 hdc in first st (add stitch marker in first hdc stitch), hdc in each of next 5 st, [2 hdc in next st, hdc in each of next 5 st] 6 times, 2 hdc in next st (add stitch marker in last hdc st), sc in each of next 17 st (the sc stitches are located at the bottom of the piece), sl st to the first st. (68 sts)
Fasten off.
Face (with cream color)
(RS) Join the cream color yarn in first st (marked st)
Row 1: ch 1, sc in each of next 9 st, sc2tog in next 2 sts, sc in next st, turn. (11 sts)
(add stitch marker in first stitch and the last stitch of the row 1)
Row 2: ch 1, sc in first st, sc2tog in next 2 sts, sc in each of next 8 st, turn. (10 sts)
Row 3: ch 1, sc in first st, sc2tog in next 2 sts, sc in each of next 7 st, turn. (9 sts)
Row 4: ch 1, sc in each of next 6 st, sc2tog in next 2 sts, sc in next st, turn. (8 sts)
Row 5: ch 1, sc in first st, sc2tog in next 2 sts, sc in each of next 2 st, sc2tog in next 2 sts, sc in next st, turn. (6 sts)
Row 6: ch 1, sc in first st, sc2tog in next 2 sts, sc in each of next 3 st, turn. (5 sts)
Row 7: ch 1, sc in first st, sc2tog in next 2 sts, sc in last 2 sts, turn. (4 sts)
Row 8: ch 1, sc in first st, sc2tog in next 2 sts, sc in last st, turn. (3 sts)
Row 9: ch 1, sc3tog in next 3 sts, turn. (1 st)
When making the face part for the other side piece, keep facing the wrong side of the body part and start the face part in the second marked st (not the first marked st in first st) in body part.
Edging
- Crochet sc in each st around the edge (do not forget to crochet the same number of stitches on both pieces)
- When making an edge, each part (face and body) is crocheted in the same color.
Around the face: Start from the first st of the face (marked stitch in bottom of the face) (image 1 above). Join cream color yarn at the first st of the face, crochet 2 sc in marked st, crochet sc around the face, to make a smooth edge, crochet 3sc in tip of the face, crochet sc in each of next st around the face until last st remain, make 2 sc in last st (marked st) on the top of the face (image 2 above).
Around the body: Join brown color when the last st of cream color half done (image 1 above), crochet 2 sc in next st (first st in brown color stitch of the body) (image 2), sc in each st around the body until last hdc remain, 2 sc in next (last) hdc (marked st), sc in each of next 16 st, 2 sc in last sc, sl st to the first st in cream color, fasten off. (do not forget to crochet the same number of stitches on both pieces).
Add Features to the face
Attach eyes on each piece. Between 4 and 5 row of face part.

Joining two pieces together
- When joining two pieces, each part (face and body) is crocheted in the same color.
Holding two pieces together, start from the bottom. Join cream color yarn at the first st of the face (image 1 above). Crochet sc only around the face and join the brown color when the last st of cream color half done (image 3 above), and crochet sc around the body with brown color, when you half way the joining, start adding fiberfill as you go (image below), when you reach the last st, sl st to the first st and fasten off. Weave the ends.
