Assembly & Joining
There are many ways to join crochet squares. For this blanket I used the flat zipper method which is my favorite joining method I recently learned while making Floral Granny Square Blanket & Checkerboard Granny Square Blanket. I love the flat seam look. It’s not a very quick method to try and needs a little practice, but when you grab the rhythm it’s fun to work.
Below you will find a video how to crochet flat zipper method I used for making Floral Garden Granny Square Blanket
Arrange the 81 squares as shown in the diagram below. And start to joining squares together using flat zipper method.
If you don’t wish to learn this method you can sew the squares together or use single crochet seam.
Border
I made a simple border with 3 rounds of dc clusters.
Notes: Work in round, do not turn, sl st to first st at the end of each round.
Round 1: join brown color in one of the ch-3 sp of corner stitch. ch 3 (count as dc), (2dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in same space, *3 dc in each of next space across until corner st remains, (3dc, ch 3, 3dc) in corner st; repeat * to around, join with sl st to the ch 3 top.
Fasten off and cut the yarn.
Round 2: join white color in one of the ch-3 sp of corner stitch. ch 3 (count as dc), (2dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in same space, *3 dc in each of next space (between 3dc clusters) across until corner st remains, (3dc, ch 3, 3dc) in corner st; repeat * to around, join with sl st to the ch 3 top.
Fasten off and cut the yarn.
Round 3: join brown color in one of the ch-3 sp of corner stitch. ch 3 (count as dc), 7dc in same space, *3 dc in each of next space (between 3dc clusters) across until corner st remains, 8dc in corner st; repeat * to around, join with sl st to the ch 3 top.
Fasten off and cut the yarn. Weave the ends
