4-Medium weight / Worsted / 100% Cotton / 75 total yards

(I used)

Gauge: 16 hdc x 9 rows = 4″ with 5 mm crochet hook.

  • sl st = slip stitch
  • sc = single crochet
  • hdc = half double crochet
  • dc = double crochet
  • st = stitch
  • sk = skip
  • ch-()sp = chain-() space
  • beg = beginning
  • * to ; = repeat * to the instructions.
  • [] = work instructions within brackets as many times as directed.

Citrus Cotton Baby Bonnet Free Crochet Pattern

Make a magic ring with (C1).

Round 1: ch 1 (beg ch does not count as st in this round), 10 hdc into the ring, sl st to the first hdc (10 sts)

Round 2: ch 1 (beg ch does not count as st in this round), 2 hdc in first st and each of next st around, sl st to the first hdc. (20 sts)

Round 3: ch 1 (beg ch does not count as st in this round), 2 hdc in first st, *hdc in next st, 2 hdc in next st; repeat * to around, sl st to the first hdc. (30 sts)

Round 4: ch 1 (beg ch does not count as st in this round), 2 hdc in first st, *hdc in each of next 2 sts, 2 hdc in next st; repeat * to around, sl st to the first hdc. (40 sts)

Round 5: ch 1 (beg ch does not count as st in this round), 2 hdc in first st, *hdc in each of next 3 sts, 2 hdc in next st; repeat * to around, sl st to the first hdc. (50 sts)

Round 6: ch 1 (beg ch does not count as st in this round), 2 hdc in first st, *hdc in each of next 4 sts, 2 hdc in next st; repeat * to around, sl st to the first hdc. (60 sts)

Work in rows

Row 7: Join (C2) in first st of the previous round, sc in same st, [ch 3 (I crocheted chains tight. Crochet 2 chains, if you are crocheting loosely), sk next 2 sts, sc in next st] 17 times, turn. (18 sc / 17 ch-3 sp)

Row 8: with (C1), (beg ch(s) count as dc in this row) ch 3 in first sc, *3 dc in ch-3 sp, ch 1; repeat * to until last ch-3 sp, dc in last sc, turn. (53 dc with beg ch 3)

Row 9: with (C2), sc in first st, [ch 3, sc in next ch-1 sp] 16 times, ch 3, sc in last st, turn. (18 sc / 17 ch-3 sp)

Row 10 to 13: repeat rows 8 and 9 continuously.

Row 14: with (C1), sc in first st, [ch 1, 3 dc in ch-3 sp, ch 1, sl st to next sc] 16 times, ch 1, 3 dc in last ch-3 sp, ch 1, sc in last st. (51 dc)

Edging
Crochet sc evenly across the neck side of the bonnet. Fasten off and weave all ends. Weave the ribbon through row 12 of the baby bonnet.
